The Moth by Mail Subscription: Ties that Bind

Imagine swapping stories with friends and family on long summer evenings while moths flutter around the porch light. Since its launch in 1997, The Moth has sought to replicate that exact feeling. The award-winning organization has inspired people from all walks of life to share more than 50, 000 personal narratives live…and without notes. Their worldwide events celebrate the power of storytelling to build empathy and understanding through telling and listening to true stories. In exclusive partnership with The Moth, this Uncommon Originals six-month subscription transforms these unique stories into collectible letters that illuminate the diversity and commonality of being human and will inspire anyone to discover the storyteller in themselves. The six letters, delivered monthly by mail, are taken from real stories told at The Moth’s renowned open-mic and curated storytelling events. Connected by the theme of “Ties That Bind, ” these stories share personal experiences from a diverse array of tellers’ real lives profound and often unexpected revelations about love, perseverance, change, and individuality, told with courageous honesty and heart. The front of each letter bears a meaningful phrase from the story; on the reverse side, readers will find the complete narrative, along with a QR code that lets them hear the original telling of the tale before a live audience at one of The Moth’s events. Beautifully designed and folded in the shape of a moth, the letters are a meaningful keepsake gift that can be saved and shared to spark conversation, storytelling, and memory-making. The retail price is an up-front, one-time fee for all six months of the subscription. The first gift will ship within 24 hours of placing an order, and subsequent gifts will ship on the 15th of the month (or next nearest business day) for the duration of the subscription.
