The portable Nintendo console's included joy-cons are made for convertible fun, sliding onto and off of the device with ease. But when it's time to get competitive, you'll likely want the support of a classic, sturdy remote. That's why the engineers at Nintendo created the Switch Pro Controller. Unlike streamlined joy-cons, this wide-set handheld is optimized for long sessions, button smashing and staring at a television for hours. While the device may share a similar body type with other last-gen accessories, this comfortable device is anything but ancient. It's packed with high-tech features like motion controls, amiibo functionality, and HD rumble. Every time you open a dungeon door, race around the corner or strike an enemy, you'll be able to feel it.

That's a tough question to answer. Many prefer the flexibility of joy-cons, a pair of which already come with your console. And in some competitive racing and fighting games, two people can use split joy-cons to play co-operatively. But all players agree that If you spend long sessions in front of the TV or love to play competitively, the Switch Pro Controller is the best way to go.
However, if you only ever play on the handheld console, you might have a hard time finding use for this controller. Keep in mind that this accessory can even connect to Switch Lite models (which don't pair with televisions). Play alone and explore solitary worlds, or bring your friends together for an all-out fighting tournament. You'll want to keep as many controllers as possible on hand for competitions, but reserve this quick-action remote for yourself.
