Tegan Sherman2 months agoMy girlfriend and I have been together for 6 years and are planning to move in together after graduation in May. We already live together most of the time in my college apartment, though. I’m 22 and will be 23 in May, and she’s 21. For my graduation, I’m taking her on a 3-week trip to Japan in June, and I’m thinking of proposing during the trip. While I don’t expect us to get married immediately, we both agree we’re fine with being engaged for a few years until I have a more stable job. I recently won a game show, so I can afford a nice ring without financial concerns. The Japan trip feels like the perfect opportunity since it’ll likely be our biggest trip for a while before we start our jobs. I know she’s the one I want to marry, so I’m wondering why I should wait, especially since the trip is such a big milestone. The only concern I have is how my parents will react because we’re both still young. My parents can be controlling, and I’m worried they won’t approve, even though my dad has mentioned the idea of proposing in Japan a few times. I’d really appreciate your advice on this!2592
