We’ve been dating for about six months, and I’ve been planning a trip to Europe this summer with friends since before we even started dating. This week, we finalized the dates to book everything. On the other hand, my boyfriend has a tradition of going on a theme park trip with his friends every year, and he’d really wanted me to join him this time. I was super excited to be a part of that, but then I realized the dates my friends and I picked for Europe coincided with his trip. I immediately started panicking and feeling guilty because I hadn’t realized there was a conflict. But rather than getting upset like I feared, my boyfriend said, “I don’t ever want to put you in a position where you feel like you need to choose between me and your friends. I want you to go and have a great time, babe. I’ll be fine just going with the guys. You’ve been planning your trip for a long time, and don’t feel guilty. There will be plenty of other times for us to do the park together.” This is just one of many, many, MANY examples of him being incredibly understanding and thoughtful. After being in situationships with emotionally unavailable men, he’s truly a breath of fresh air. I feel so lucky to have him in my life.128
