Founded in 1897 in the heart of the Bordeaux vineyards, Yvon Mau has built up a unique expertise in Bordeaux wines. At the beginning of the century, Yvon, the founder's son, traveled the vineyards on his velocipede - which a few years later became the symbol of the company - in search of the best wines. Always faithful to its terroir, Yvon Mau has grown to become one of the leading players in Bordeaux wines. A subsidiary of the Spanish Freixenet group since 2001, the company is now part of the German Henkell Freixenet group, the world leader in sparkling wines, following Henkell's takeover of Freixenet in 2018. Today, the Gironde-sur-Dropt-based site has become the benchmark within the Henkell Freixenet group for the production of both Bordeaux and PGI still wines. Yvon Mau selects and produces more than 20 million bottles of still wine each year, which are distributed in France and abroad by Freixenet Gratien.
