The Bonfante family has been producing wines in Nizza Monferrato (AT), Piedmont, for 8 generations. The Marco Bonfante winery was founded in 2000 when the brothers Micaela and Marco Bonfante decided to start their own production process, following the death of their father Domenico and the subsequent split of the winery he founded in which they were working with at the time. In Piedmont the word “Bricco” represents the highest part of the hill, the best exposed one. On this hill was selected a one and a half hectare of vineyard which is south-exposed. A thorough thinning of the vineyard favors both the ripening of the grapes and the concentration of the extracts. The long refinement in oak barrels and in the bottle soften the surly character of the Barbera and it gives this wine an excellent harmony. Winemaker's Notes The harvested grapes get destalked and soft-pressed. After that, placed in steel vinificator machines for a cold maceration. The process, which lasts about 36/40 hours...
