Taittinger Comtes de Champagne 2012 Blanc de Blanc Brut

The Tete de Cuvee from the house of Taittinger. Comte de Champagne Blanc de Blanc has for generations been the standard bearer for 100% Chardonnay Champagne. The 2012 harvest was affected by the combination of climatic vagaries from which it experienced throughout the season, such as winter and spring frosts and hail. However, the climatic conditions that allowed for the maturation of the grapes were exceptional, owing to the dry and sunny months of August and September.James Suckling scored this wine 99 points saying this is a fantastic and refined Blanc de Blancs. So layered and complex, with lemon curd, chalk, hazelnuts, pastries, baked apples and almond croissants. Structured and tightly wound, with almost imperceptible bubbles. Delicious salty notes at the end. Beautiful.
